POSITION SUMMARY: The Volunteer & Gift Shop Coordinator supports staff, patients, and their families by contributing to the patient centered mission of Enloe Medical Center. He/she works with the Director of Volunteer Services in interviewing, training, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating volunteers in their assigned areas of program responsibility. He/she supervises assigned areas of program responsibility are compliant with State, Federal, and organizational regulations and standards. The Volunteer & Gift Shop Coordinator will serve as primary buyer and effectively ordering merchandise and keeping a good relationship with vendors. Will prepare annual sales goals, develop and implement gift shop policies and procedures and report directly to the Director of Volunteer Services to coordinate in implementing effective mechanisms for marketing shop sales and promotions. Will effectively work with volunteer Gift Shop team to accurately price merchandise and display them effectively for attractiveness, safety and enhancing sales.
Additionally, the Volunteer & Gift Shop Coordinator assists the Director with department-wide education, outreach, and recognition. This may include facilitation of orientations and trainings, as wells as public events and presentations. Additionally, he/she is expected to assist with administrative support in the department as requested and provide support of on-going department initiatives.
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE: Minimum: * Bachelor's degree is communication, business administration, health administration, or related field * Two years retail experience * Prior experience with a Point of Sale system. * One year experience utilizing clerical, computer and receptionist skills
Desired: * CAVS or CVA certification * Experience coordinating volunteers * Public speaking experience SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES: Must have knowledge of basic retail business principles. Must have knowledge of the basic tenets of volunteerism. Must be self-motivated, diplomatic and work well as part of a team. Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to maintain a high degree to rapport with volunteers, patients, visitors, staff, and physicians. Ability to supervise. Familiarity with retail science. Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Must possess basic computer knowledge and be capable of using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook (Microsoft Office Suite). Organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
