Duties include but not limited to: Out-patient clinics, in-patient care, administrative duties, teaching and may include research. The selected applicant can expect approximately 50 percent of their duties to be administrative.
Scope of Duties:
In addition to observances of Federal, National and local regulatory, policy, and accreditation requirements governing this Health Care System, this position encompasses the following examples of responsibilities overseen by their Section Chief.
Administrative Duties: Leadership, Human Resources, Staff management, Time/Leave management, Business planning,and Clinical management.
Clinical Duties: Patient care, Medical/Clinical knowledge, Clinical judgment, Interpersonal and communication skills, Professionalism, and system based practice.
Education: The Section Chief functions as a liaison to Associate Chief of Staff for Education and the respective Program Director for UME/GME issues. He/she ensures orientation to service rotation for program trainees(residents, students), if any.
Research and Development Duties (If applicable): The Section Chief functions as a liaison to Assistant Chief of Staff for research for research issues concerning their section.
On Call requirements: On-call duties which are light are divided equally among the Neurology attendings and usually handled by the phone thru the in-house Neurology Resident.
- Board Certified in Neurology
- Proven administrative/leadership skills with at least 2 years supervisory experience.
- 7 years clinical neurology experience and clinically active in the last 2 years.
- Expertise in movement disorders including Parkinson's and Multiple Sclerosis.
- Active Research protocols.
- 5 years experience with GME/UME.

Physical Requirements:Apre-placement physical examination will be completed prior to appointment to determine the physical and mental fitness of candidates.Physical requirements include, but not limited to:Moderatelifting (15-44 pounds),light carrying, under 15 pounds, reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, both hands required, walking (6 hour), standing (6 hours), repeated bending (2-4 hours),both eyes required, depth perception, ability to distinguish basic colors, ability to distinguish shades of colors, Hearing (aid permitted),mental/emotional stability,ability to perform privileges, independently performs physical exams as appropriate to position, and cognitive stability.
