As a Psychiatrist, you will provide prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to veterans in need of psychiatric services. Duties include documenting observations, assessments, and changes in patient's condition; collaborating with health team members to facilitate positive patient care outcomes; providing a full range of psychiatric care to patients with a variety of physical and/or behavior problems; and accountable for meeting and maintaining the qualification standards of assigned specialty. Our facility is seeking individuals who possess good organizational skills which enable completion of work, a demonstrated ability to assume leadership in a patient centered program, and the ability to establish effective communication with patients, families, visitors and members of the interdisciplinary team.
The Outpatient Psychiatrist will provide patient care to approximately 12-20 outpatients daily, including diagnosis, care, and treatment, as well as consultations to other services when requested. Responsible for all facets of an acute outpatient care. Will assist in completing quality management reviews. Must be computer literate with computer skills to access and input electronic medical documentation. Responsible for the successful achievement of applicable Performance Measure and Monitors for his/her areas of responsibility.
Work Schedule: Full-time. Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm with on-call duties on the weekend, night and holiday coverage as necessary.

- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are: For residents, graduation from an approved medical school as described above is required. First-Year Residency (Internship) - Completed a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was competed. For a VA resident, the appropriate Deans Committee and Resident Review Board may recommend appointment on the basis of the candidate's acceptability for residency training. Approved residencies are: Those approved by the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals, American Medical Association, in the list published for the year the residency was completed OR Other residencies or their equivalents which the Professional Standards Board determines to have provided an applicant with appropriate professional training. The Board may determine that the residency requirement has been met if the candidate has completed 1 year of postgraduate education.
